The schoolroom where William Shakespeare was educated and the Guildhall where he first experienced live theatre will be opening to the public for the first time on Saturday 23 April 2016, exactly 400 years after his death.
2016 is the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death, and to mark this milestone we've partnered with The Royal Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare Birthplace Trust to create Shakespeare's Steps.
Conservationists working on Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall have uncovered a new figure in a rare medieval wall painting. Identified by experts as John the Baptist, this figure is part of a 15th century painting referring to motifs from the seal of the Guild of the Holy Cross.
