Shakespeare's Schoolroom & Guildhall is currently closed as a visitor attraction, but we hope to be able to reopen in Spring 2021. Our closure is the result of the unprecedented situation created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
We are a very small team that relies upon the additional help of our wonderful volunteers, many of whom are in higher risk Covid categories, so are not able to support us as they normally would at this time. Ensuring our visitors have the best possible experience is also our priority, which the current restrictions make challenging in a number of different ways for a small historic building like this.
However, Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall is still in use. As it has been for nearly 500 years, the building is being used to teach children, with the two schoolrooms being used by King Edward VI School to enable them to spread further across the site that we share with them.
Behind the scenes we are working on plans for the reopening, which will shortly begin with the launch of a new website.
