Twitchers adventure at the Schoolroom this half term 10th Feb - 25th Feb

Twitchers adventure, Half Term, Schoolroom, Birds of Shakespeare
The Twitchers Museum Adventure is organised by Kids in Museums and Walker Books to celebrate the release of Feather, the latest book in the Twitchers Series from bestselling children’s author M. G. Leonard.  The story’s setting is a museum which is why Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall is one of 50 museums across the UK that is helping to bring the themes of the book to life for visiting families.

Eagle-eyed visitors will be challenged to help Twitch and his friends to find some missing bird exhibits, with the hunt taking place in the Court of Record, Georgian Classroom, Tudor Schoolroom and Master’s Chamber.  There is a free Kids in Museums activity sheet to complete and a free Twitchers sticker for every young visitor.

Young William Shakespeare would have been a similar age to M. G. Leonard’s characters, Twitch, Jack and Ava, when he attended school in Stratford-upon-Avon and like them he must have had a fascination with our feathered friends, having featured more than 60 species in his work.

Inspired by the robins, blackbirds and nightingales that Shakespeare wrote about, visitors can decorate their own wooden bird, with a variety of colourful materials to choose from.  Then they can fly their creation home or add it to the perch in the Master’s Chamber.  Birds of Shakespeare kits are priced at £2.
