The witching hour strikes!

The witching hour strikes!

Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall will be home to some wayward witches intent on creating October half-term fun.

The award-winning attraction in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon will be open daily (11am to 5pm) throughout the holidays with an experience that includes a Family Witches’ Trail alongside all the interactive activities that are included within the ticket price.

Fortunately, it is not the witches from Macbeth that you will be seeking out, but a coven of miniature Lego witches, and their black cats, who have discovered the most interesting hiding places in this ancient building. As you make your way around, you’ll also find on the wall a series of witches’ marks, which are believed to date back to early 15th century and were said to ward away evil. They are seen near the windows of the first floor and were believed to stop any witches and evil spirits from entering the building.

Also awaiting families is the opportunity to step into the shoes of young William Shakespeare and join Master Thomas Jenkins in the Schoolroom to take part in an interactive Tudor lesson, just as the world’s greatest playwright would once have done. Next door in the Georgian classroom there is plenty to keep everyone entertained with games, quill writing, puzzles and a chance to dress up Tudor style.

Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall has reduced opening hours for autumn and winter, which mean that it will be opening for October half-term holidays from Saturday 23 October to Sunday 31 October 2021 (11am to 5pm).  Entry is Adults £10, Concessions £8, Children (5-16, under 5’s free) £6.50, Families (2 adults & 2 children) £27, Extra Child with family ticket £4.50.

Tickets can be bought in advance here or on the day from the welcome desk. The Family Witches’ Trail and all of the activities are included in the ticket price.
